What are the real reasons social media isn’t working for your business? Social media today defined this answer pretty clearly. First, owners don’t know who their true target audience is. You defeat the whole purpose of advertising if you market your products to the wrong people.

For example, you’re not going to see a club promoter posting fliers that ask for all middle-aged parents to come to the club on a Friday night. It just doesn’t make any sense. “Understanding who your target audience is – what they want, what they need, where you fit in, etc. – is critical to maximizing your social media marketing performance,” Social media today stated.

Owners are also not consistent when they post on social media. When you post great content, your followers are expecting something very soon. You might not need to post every day, but when you post it needs to be at the same time.

Optimize your social media by using Hootsuite to schedule posts, run multiple profiles, create engaging posts, and more. Give your followers something to look forward to every time they check your account. Don’t forget to use your story either so people can see what your business is doing on a daily basis. 

Lastly, you might be on social media for the wrong reasons. If you’re on there just to get your follower count up, you are making a huge mistake. “Without being intentional, and thinking about whether you’re building an audience that’s right for your business, you’ll just have a room full of bodies.”

That statement makes perfect sense! What use is it to have 5000 followers when 4600 of them are not even engaged in your business. They just followed you to get a follow back, and now you have several followers with no real potential clients.
