Behind-the-scenes business

When it comes to SEO tips, one of the most important ones is to update your meta descriptions, snippets, and behind-the-scenes information. This may seem like a pointless step as you don’t immediately see the results or how it helps. That being said, it helps the search engines understand what is and is not relevant to you, and more importantly, lead your relevant information to someone who is searching for what you have to offer.

Keep your domain name

This is one of the SEO tips that people tend to forget about. Never give up your domain name, even if your site is under construction as you build a new one. Why? Your domain has a rank, and it’s based on age and reputation. Think of it like your credit score: certain things bring it up and down, but the longer you have it and the better you operate it, the higher your score. This brings you more opportunities and perks in the long run.

Update, update, update

Always update your software. Is it mundane? Yes. Will it help you greatly? Absolutely. Make sure your site is built on the most updated platform and software available, and make sure that all of the plugins are up-to-date too. Just like updating your Apple iPhone or your Samsung Android every once in a while, the plugins on your site are very similar to the apps on your phone. You want the latest version of those, right? Never stop updating.

Use Google services

Surprise: Google likes Google! Update and operate Google My Business, upload posts, and answer reviews all on the mega search engine. Be as generally active as possible on Google so that Google recognizes your content and will promote it to people searching for your products and services.

Have a YouTube channel

As previously mentioned, Google likes Google. YouTube is a part of the Google empire. So, naturally, making a YouTube account and channel is something that Google will be happy to organically promote, since it is of their own company. Having a strong YouTube channel and linking it to your site is something that will help you in a big way as you continue to grow your business.

Recycle Content

No new content? No problem. Even if you aren’t producing brand new, never-before-seen articles, posts, blogs, etc., that doesn’t mean you should give up on posting something for the day. If you need to, reupload an article from the past and feature it as if it were new, drawing more people into reading it. If that doesn’t feel fresh enough, consider revising some of the information from your “About Us” page and get the word out about your company. There’s never an excuse to stop updating your website.

Q & A

Always have a Question & Answers section on every page. Each page is ranked separately and mostly based on the keywords and phrases that show up there. If you have Q&A at the bottom of each page, you help the overall site get ranked for keywords besides the main information that appears on that particular page.

Have reliable sources

Typically when you use Google to search for something, chances are that if it has a Wikipedia page, that will be one of the first links to show up as a search result. Why? Because Google trusts Wikipedia and takes it as a reliable source. Any source like that that has a link to your site is extremely important and can help with your ranking. Always try to have reliable sources. Create a maze for people who visit your website

Create a maze for people who visit your website

Though this may sound crazy, it really will help you in the long run. One of the main factors that helps your ranking is the duration of each session spent on your site, meaning that the longer they stay, the more relevant the content was to them. Creating links to other pages on your site is something that will keep them viewing and reading through longer. For example, someone found your site through an article with an interesting topic. While reading, they came across a link to another article and clicked it, directing them to another page on your site. So, they discovered more than what they bargained for because you had the appropriate links to keep them learning more. Because of this, they didn’t bounce, or leave your site. A bouncing rate of about 40% is good; 50-60% is average and above 70% is high. If you have 90% bouncing rate, that means your content is completely irrelevant to your viewers and you should seriously consider retargeting the right people.

Don’t let this SEO tips list intimidate you. All of these SEO tips are easy to follow and, if conquered, will ensure your business success. The most essential aspect to take away from this is to continue updating your website with content and articles while also remembering to update the behind-the-scenes software. Stay up-to-date and active on Google so it knows to continue to promote and organically push your site. Don’t give up on your business! Success is waiting for you.
