Tik Tok is testing out a new addition to its platform. Their goal is to give users a direct link to their personal website on their profile. This new feature is a huge marketing tactic, as it will surely drive even more engagement on the platform. Back in 2018, it was reported that Tik Tok had over 500 million users. We can only assume that the number has grown significantly due to all of their recent success.
Having a link on your profile will give users even more site traffic. With just one click, other Tik Tok users can view all of your content on one website. This new addition will bring them new users, especially those who advertise to high school and college students. Social Media Today stated that “building an audience on a specific platform can be helpful for brand awareness, but in order to fully capitalize on that growth, you need to be able to link them back to your home base.”
Tik Tok’s new addition will also boost advertising. The Verge reported that Tik Tok spends $3 million a day on advertising. In 2018 alone, they spent $1 billion on advertising. Obviously, this huge budget was to promote brand awareness because they are a relatively new platform. However, every business has to make a profit. Putting a website on user profiles can potentially help with that.

Remember that 66% of TikTok’s users are younger than 30 so this isn’t the right platform for businesses that have older target audiences.
